Groton Public Library, NY

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be a resident in the Groton Central School District (GCSD)
• Candidates for the office of Trustee shall be nominated by petition. The petition shall be signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the GCSD

QUALITIES OF AN EFFECTIVE TRUSTEE:

• Belief in our library’s importance as an integral part of the community’s culture, recreation and education
• Readiness to volunteer time and effort. The Board meets once a month and includes committee work
• An open mind, curiosity and respect for the opinions of others
• Initiative and ability to establish policies for the successful operation of the library and inclusive service for all users

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Financial skills helpful
• Computer literacy
• Advocacy
• Ideas for reaching diverse populations
