Library Tech Week: March 7-11

General Flyer

Join us for Library Tech Week between March 7th and 11th!

Technology Open House

We will have two technology open house events! Come to one, or both! All ages are invited to participate and see the variety of technology the Library has to offer.

  • Wednesday, 3/9 from 6-9pm, we will have a special 3D Design workshop where you can see just how easy it is to design, and then print, your 3D Objects!
  • Friday, 3/11, from 7-9:30pm, come in to play Minecraft (the NEW version 1.9!) and try an Hour of Code on the iPads. No experience required!
  • BOTH Wednesday and Friday, we will be demoing the 3D Printer from the Finger Lakes Library System, the Wii and 3DS will be set up, you can play with Legos, get introduced to LittleBits or play around with the iPads!

LittleBits Invention Lab

The LittleBits Invention Lab will debut this week. Located in the Children’s section, this new initiative will be an ongoing opportunity to think creatively and invent with LittleBits! LittleBits are electronic modules that snap together magnetically to make circuits and cool inventions. Anyone may use the LittleBits, but kids ages 8-14 are encouraged to complete challenges to earn points and badges! Special assistance with this new program will be available weekdays from 3-5pm.

At the School

The Library is teaming up with the Jr./Sr. High School Library to bring some of our cool technology to the school! During Wednesday’s lunch periods, we will be in the cafeteria with the 3D Printer in action while we demo 3D Design. Then, on Friday, we will be at Girls’ Night In with a variety of technology for the girls to play with!

These programs are being done as part of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) ‘Teen Tech Week”.
