The Groton Public Library is pleased to announce that we were awarded two grants from The Bernard Carl and Shirley Rosen Library Fund of the Community Foundation of Tompkins County and one grant from the Children & Youth Fund of the Community Foundation. These grants total $21,168.56.
Two of the grants, including the Children & Youth Fund, will be used for our third year of GPL Teen Thing, a program for Groton youth in grades 6th, 7th and 8th. This program will be teen driven and feature weekly presentations and free books for each participant.
The other grant is a collaborative effort between Groton Public Library, Southworth Library Association in Dryden, Powers Library in Moravia and the Cortland Free Library. This grant will bring two authors to each Library for a presentation and each family will receive a free autographed book by the author.
In the Fall we will be hosting Sean Fay Wolfe, the seventeen year old self published author of the novel, Quest for Justice, A Minecraft Novel, Book One of the Elementia Chronicles, who will present his exciting book series set in the popular world of Minecraft, as well as relay his personal journey to becoming a young author. We will also be bringing children’s author Suzanne Bloom, who is the well-loved author of the Goose, Bear and Fox stories.
We could not be more thrilled to be sharing this wonderful news with all of you!
